Winter Camel Festival Ride
Description
Many think that the Mongolian winter is unbearably cold and there isn't much to do and see. However, Mongolian winters are incredibly beautiful and there are plenty of things to see and enjoy! Glittering white snow, clear fresh air with sun shining almost everyday, and of course, adventure!
The Gobi desert is the sixth largest on earth and is more stoney then sandy in most places. Although a lot of people think of a desert as mostly sand, in addition to stones, the Gobi has a plenty of vegetation and is the home of the famous two humped Bactrian camel. Mongolia has the largest number of Bactrian camels in the world. Camels are well adapted to the Gobi’s arid, harsh climate where temperatures can fluctuate between +48C and – 35C. In the past, camels played a major role in transport along the Silk Road between Asia and Europe. Nowadays, Mongolian nomads still use camels as a pack animals for their seasonal migration.
